SCHUMANN RESONANCES

Schumann resonances are electromagnetic waves that occur within the Earth's cavity, formed by the surface and the ionosphere. They're generated by lightning strikes and other electromagnetic events. The fundamental frequency is around 7.83 Hz, with harmonics at higher frequencies.

Musical material was drawn from these fundamental tone and harmonics, creating both chords and melodic lines.  Frequencies were multiplied by 4 in order to reach human hearing range.  The piece also employs musical material from Robert Schumann’s lieder Mein schöner Stern.
