RULE 110

Rule 110, dedicated to pianist Alberto Rosado, takes its name from the elementary cellular automaton capable of universal computation. The title is not strictly metaphorical. The musical raw material has been generated from the development of the automaton from a given initial configuration. Through the mapping technique, the numerical information provided by this development is projected onto musical parameters previously chosen. Therefore, the material on which the work of art is constructed is intimately linked to the original source.
