L-SYSTEM

L-System (short for Lyndenmayer Systems, after Aristid Lyndenmayer, the Hungarian biologist who developed them) are formal grammars which can be used to model the morphology of several organisms, plants in particular. An alphabet and a set of production rules create strings which are later translated into structures of different sorts. This metaludio uses an L-System model of a plant in which the resulting string is translated into musical structures (pitch, rhythm, etc.)
